What BAC Water is
Bacteriostatic water (BAC Water) is sterile water with a small addition of benzyl alcohol (about 0.9%). That additive inhibits bacterial growth, so once opened a vial can be used repeatedly and safely for a longer period (usually up to about 28 days). Ordinary water for injection is single-use only.
In the laboratory, BAC Water is used mainly to dissolve powdered research peptides. The powder is mixed with this water to give a solution ready for further work.
What it is for
The amount of water is matched to the mass of peptide and the concentration you want. You can work out the exact values for your experiment in our peptide calculator. The prepared solution is usually kept refrigerated.
Sold as a peptide accessory — a complement to the powdered compounds in the catalogue.
For in-vitro laboratory research only. Not for human or animal consumption and not for treatment.
